A big well done to all of our level five open age gymnasts, Notts Gymnastics Academy was represented by 6 gymnasts, from our A1/A2 Women’s Artistic Competitive groups.
The girls began their competition on Bars. Although having a rocky start to bars with numerous falls, Charlotte Thomas and Maisie Ash performed their full routine and held joint second place with a score of 10.35, well done. Rebuilding confidence of the girls, they moved onto their second piece, Beam. All round the girls gave a better performance and Charlotte Thomas managed to secure a joint gold with Dukeries, score 11.50. Floor, each gymnast executed their newly revised routines with elegance. Jodie Iveson scoring 11.30 securing third place, Charlotte Thomas 11.40 second place and Kiya Robb held first place with a score of 11.80, an excellent routine. All the girls moods picked up as they moved onto their last piece, Vault. Each one secured a score of 11.00 and over. Gymnasts: Zelda Harrison, Kirsty Innes, Lana Gazis, Beatrice Hill and Amelia Coventry
The girls started on beam. This was a difficult piece for them in training as they were struggling to remember the routine. They all worked very hard at home and in the gym and all of them remembered their routine at the competition ! Well done girls !
A special well done to Lana who won this piece with a beautiful performance.
Next was floor.
Beatrice showed poise and elegance this secured her a well deserved first place on this piece. Lana (2nd) , Amelia (3rd), Kirsty (4th) and Zelda decided to be fight their nerves at the last minute and perform their routine facing the public ! We are very proud of their brave decision !
On vault, Beatrice (1st), Lana (2nd), Amelia (3rd), Zelda (4th) and Kirsty remembered the correct footwork involved in jumping on the springboard. This had been giving them some trouble in training, we are very pleased with their progress!
All the girls did well on bars by showing strength in their chin ups and leg lifts. They could all do with squeezing their legs a little more but all in all, a good performance all round!
Congratulations Lana, Amelia, Zelda, Kirsty and Beatrice on their first competition. Keep up the good work!

Gymnasts; Aasia McIntosh, Emma Croydon, Katherine Watson, Piper Tobin-Storer, Libby-Anne Hardman, Lara Hill, Orla Dixon, Sofia Saporita, Molly Nicholls, Gabriella Sutton, Leasha Pengkerego-Ravenscroft
For many of the girls, county championships was their first experience of competition. With new gymnastics skills and dance added into the mix each and every gymnast did extremely well not only to remember, but to perform their routines well.
Starting on floor, all girls performed confidently and stretched beautifully for the judges throughout their routines. A few showed wobbles here and there but outstanding routines performed by Sofia, Piper and Gaby earned them first, second and third places respectively.
Sofia (1) Piper (2) Gaby (3) Emma (4) Molly (5) Libby (6) Leasha, Aasia (7) Katy (8) Lara (9) Orla (10)
Moving to vault some of the smallest gymnasts in the room showed how powerful they could be. With all gymnasts performing a vault without a fall it was hard for the judges to separate them. Some beautiful straight legs and perfectly stuck landing earned Piper a gold medal, closely followed by a joint second place from Gaby and Libby with Leasha (the smallest of the lot!) in a well deserved third.

Bars gave the gymnasts a chance to show their strength and a new routine with both low bar and high bar elements. Piper, Libby, Lara, Leasha, Molly, Gaby, Orla and Katy bravely performed a squat on to the low bar earning them a 0.5 bonus, however did give room for error with a few gymnasts falling on this skill. With a well controlled float and a squat on jump off that very nearly caught the high bar (not the aim!) earned Piper her second gold medal of the day. Gaby showed her extreme strength gaining her another silver medal with Libby and Lara performing more incredibly confident squat ons for third and forth. All the girls did very well to perform these skills at their age so a big well done to everyone for bars
Piper (1), Gaby (2), Libby (3), Lara (4), Molly (5), Katy (6), Orla (7), Aasia (8), Leasha (9), Emma (10), Sofia (11)
Lastly the gymnasts moved to beam. With not only skills but a dance routine to be performed too, the girls worked hard to remember their full routines without missing dance or gymnastics. A few little bits were forgotten by some but the majority of the gymnasts remembered their routines. A special well done to those who really struggled with memory and overcame nerves during the competition, you know who you are! Two gymnasts, as well as remembering their routines and staying on the beam also showed beautiful handstands and performed a very difficult jump to straddle lever mount to earn them gold and silver medals. Well done Piper and Lara. In third and fourth place (Very close together) Gaby, Libby and Sofia also performed confident handstands and held their nerve to stay on the beam.
Piper (1) Lara (2) Gaby (3) Libby, Sofia (4) Leasha (5) Orla (6) Aasia (7) Molly (8) Emma (9) Katy (10)
A massive well done to all who competed all coaches involved were very proud of your achievements individually and as a team.

Level 5 In Age Elite

Alice Marriott, Alyssa Hawkins, Georgiana Lewis, Honey Harris, Olivia Coventry, Summer Hill
Six gymnasts fresh from competing compulsory 5 in March competed for Notts in the In Age level 5 category. Each gymnasts had improved on their skills in the few months that separates grades and county champs so all were eager to show their progression.
Starting on vault, the girls shocked all the coaches by flying over the vault conquering some of the problems shown earlier in the year.
The scores therefore were very close as all gymnasts performed two successful vaults.
Alyssa (1) Alice (2) Summer (4) Georgie (5) Honey (6) Olivia (7)
Moving to bars gave the gymnasts their very first opportunity to compete a full bar routine using both low and high bars having competed on a metal bar or single bar in previous competitions. All the gymnasts performed newly learning squat on jump to catch the top bar, with an unfortunate fall for Honey having only conquered her squat on fears just days before the competition. Alyssa showed her strength on bars by performing upstarts on both low bar and high bar earning her a well deserved gold medal. Alice and Georgie both showed beautiful straight legs and bravery in catching the bar (Georgie having also ripped in the warm up, great timing there Georgie!) to earn a silver and bronze medal respectively.
Alyssa (1) Alice (2) Georgie (3) Summer (4) Olivia (7) Honey (8)
Beam has been a troublesome apparatus for this team of gymnasts so nerves were high entering this piece. Enormous bravery was shown by Honey, Georgie, Alyssa, Alice and Summer as they competed a backward walkover for the first time. Sadly Honey, Georgie and Summer fell on this skill but Alice was solid as a rock and earned herself first place. Olivia fought hard to stay on the beam and was awarded second place for her efforts and having stayed on her walkover (hardest skill) and falling off a cat leap (easiest skill!) Alyssa crept into third place. Well done girls !
Alice (1) Olivia (2) Alyssa (3) Summer (4) Georgie (5) Honey (6)
Finishing the competition on floor the gymnasts stretched their way through some excellent performances. A slight confusion in direction caused Honey's leap series to exit the floor area but with brilliant tumbling she pulled the routine back together. Having struggled with her round off flick for weeks Georgie almost went into orbit with an incredible round off flick straddle jump which shocked us all, including Georgie causing an unfortunate fall. Olivia performed her recently learned handspring and Alice her greatly improved round off flick to put them in joint third place. Summer wowed the judges with her confidently performed 'Can can' routine to earn herself the silver medal and Alyssa yet again showed her strength and power to gain another gold medal.
A big well done to all the level 5 girls who all performed more advanced skills with added maturity.
All the coaches are proud of your achievements and look forward to levels!
