Why Gymnastics?
Gymnastics opens many doors. The spectrum of skills developed in gymnastics is so broad that it is a fantastic foundation for any type of sport or exercise, and the mental skills taught in gymnastics can be used to succeed throughout life. Gymnastics develops passion as well as helping create a well-balanced, fit, healthy & happy individual who will be well equipped to face life’s challenges.
Gymnastics for All begins with our PreSchool movement sessions for babies, toddlers and children with or without their parents. We offer an introduction to gymnastics through play. Your child will learn to swing on a bar, hang on the rings, roll in different ways, bounce on the trampoline, use a spring board and walk on a beam. Their balance, co-ordination, physical development and social interaction will improve. We hope to increase self confidence, encourage children to try new things and achieve goals. Children also work towards proficiency pre-school badges.

Structured Classes
Structured classes run during term time and you will need to register in advance.
New for 2021! Our walking to age 2 GymDots classes
A structured Parent & Child weekly class for our youngest children, from walking to age 2.
A fun and engaging introduction to our fantastic sport led by our fully-trained PreSchool coaches.
2 years+ Parent/Child - Structured gymnastics classes for 2 year olds and above and their parents. Coach led activities which differ each week.
In the Parent & Child class, the parents are there to reassure the children and to help build the relationship with the coach.
3+ years Independent - Structured gymnastics classes for 3 year olds and above without parents. Coach led activities which differ each week.
The Independent classes are for those children who have the confidence to try things on their own, without their parents’ involvement, with the encouragement and support of the coaches.
Which class?
Where your child starts depends on their age, and what works best for them.
Some children prefer to have the support and familiarity of a parent while they get to know us. Some jump straight in! Many children start in the Parent & Child class, and move on to the Independent class, once they are ready.
You will need to register in advance for all our structured classes and there may be a wait if the classes are full.
Most children start by attending two tasters, which are offered at £11.66 for 2 weeks to see if gymnastics is for them - for details and to book, email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., or register on our waiting list (see below).

Our Stay-and-Play / Drop-in Session Guidelines
Welcome to Notts Gymnastics Academy, we hope your child will enjoy their gymnastics session. Whilst at our academy we ask you to abide by a few rules to ensure the safety and smooth running of classes for all members.
1. Please arrive NO MORE than 5 minutes before your class and wait OUTSIDE the gymnasium until the coach invites you to enter. This is to avoid disrupting the class in progress.
2. Please dress your children appropriately for gymnastics (NO jewellery, jeans or skirts), long hair must be tied back.
3. Please bring the correct change to pay for gymnastics sessions where appropriate.
4. Where possible ensure your child has been to the toilet to prevent class disruption.
5. Please arrive promptly to collect your child at the end of their class, to allow a smooth transition to the next class taking place. We MUST BE able to hand your child to you.
6. At the end of the session DO NOT enter the gymnasium until the coach indicates to you to do so. This prevents young children running towards parents following their class.
7. NO parents are allowed to remain in the gym during classes, unless asked to do so by the coach in charge. Please feel free to watch through the glass doors or relax in the cafe.
8. In line with British Gymnastics policy, NO PHOTOS are allowed to be taken in the gym, unless specified at an organised event or competition.
