Another great result for Andy Smith with 4th place in Doha

Andy Smith - World Cup

Andy Smith produced another great floor routine to finish 4th in the World Cup event in Doha today, scoring 14.575.  Andy will have another World Cup competition at the end of April in Croatia and then should be competing in the European Championships in Montpellier, France in May.

MA East Midlands Setwork Competition

Well done to all the boys who competed at the East Midlands setwork competition at Leicester on  Saturday 24 March.  All the Notts boys did very well with a number of medals. The under 8s took the top 4 places at Level 0 with Jack Hobrough 1st, Joe Ward 2nd, Finlay Hutchinson 3rd and Luke Harrington 4th.  At level 1 Dominic Rodgers got silver and qualifed for the East Midlands team for the NDP finals along with William Parmenter.  Henry Richards got silver at level 2 and he and Alfie Woodward qualifed for the East Midlands team.  Frazer Deabill took silver at level 3 and Daniel Bailey took gold at level 4 with Calum Hutchison in silver, Flynn Caines got gold at level 5 and at level 6 Andrew Plant got silver and Robin Woodward bronze - all these are selected for the East Midlands teams as well.  In the regional performance grades competition at level 1 Josh Newstead won gold, Joel Milner silver and Indi Watson bronze, at level 2 Peter Keynes won gold, Conor McGrath silver and Jacob Clark bronze and at level 3 Sam Plant won gold and Matthew Boardman silver.  In the out of age competition Cameron Chow took silver and Emile John-Baptiste bronze.  Results are in the MA results section of the website.

MA English Championships 2012

The boys and girls competed alongside each other at the English Championships at the new Europa Centre with Notts gymnasts from MA and WA having a successfull weekend.

In the MA Boys' competition, Matt Boardman, Tyla-Jae Curtis and Sam Plant were competing in their first national voluntary competition and after some wobbles on the first couple of pieces, they performed very well to finish the competition in style.  Tyla finished in 11th place on 67.0, Matt in 12th on 66.8 and Sam in 16th on 65.8.  Matt also won the bronze medal on floor with a very polished performance scoring 13.05.

In the Senior competition, Andy Smith was competing as a guest and came 1st on floor and 3rd on pommels in the guest category.  In the Under 18 competition, Matt Liddiard came 4th on pommels and Isaac Glenn came 11th overall with 10th place on rings and parallell bars, Josh Avallone came 22nd overall. In the Junior competition,  Andrew Plant came 18th overall with 10th place on floor and Luke Pearce came second on floor and high bar and 3rd on pommels in the guest category.

Notts County Gymnastics Workshop

Twisting Somersaults

Notts County Gymnastics is running a workshop for coaches from all Notts affiliated clubs.  The workshop is on Twisting Somersaults and will be held on Saturday 3 December 2011 at East Midlands Gymnastics Centre from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.  Cost is £10 per person.  Places are limited so to book a place please contact Sue Snelgrove - email This email address is being protected from spambots. Important Information: January 2017

Between Tuesday 3rd January -Sunday 8th January, the gym will be open but there will be no access via the leisure centre. There will only be access to the gym via the outside route, the path and steps to the left of the leisure centre entrance. This will cause problems for anyone with pushchairs etc as there will be no ramps, only stairs.

Between Monday 9th January - Friday 13th January, the gym will be closed and there will be no training. This is due to essential utility work. Training will then commence as normal on Saturday 14th January.  

Between the 3rd - 13th January there will be no access to the leisure centre buildings including the sports hall and cafe area as building will be taking place to create our new entrance.
