On Sunday 19th March, the Notts Gymnastics Academy Men’s Artistic Squad began their club competition.  With many of the boys using the competition as a practice run for the Regional Trails in June, the boys came in focussed and ready to show everyone what they’ve got.
With 11 different categories, the competition ran through smoothly and without a hiccup.  The boys showed off some fantastic routines, some went clean, some had wobbles, but all went into the competition with focus and determination.
In the voluntary category, both Tom Morley and Andy Plant went in with identical start values, with some big difficulty such as a 2 and a half twist on floor the risk was high, and so was the tension.  Tom eventually ranked Gold after Andy’s over-rotation on vault, securing him the silver.
In the Level 5 NDP category, we had Daniel Bailey and Callum Hutchinson.  Both boys came in very close together with Callum finishing 0.2 ahead of Daniel.  Daniel wowed on high bar with a fantastic routine, whilst Callum showed his flair on floor and vault cracking out a 9.3 and a 9.5 out of 10!
Our Level 4 Elite category, Tyla-Jae Curtis wowed with an impressing gold medal winning 60.55 All Around score. With Matthew and Sam both demonstrating the difficulty at this level coming in with silver and bronze.
In the Level 3 Elite category, Conor McGrath took the gold with a fantastic pommel horse routine, whilst Jacob Ward came in silver with an equally impressive vault!
In the Level 3 NDP category, Peter worked only 5 out of 7 pieces, scoring a massive 9.8 on pommel, but Henry took the Gold with a strong performance on all the apparatus.
In the Level 2 Elite category, Josh Newstead competed on his own, trying out his new routines in front of a home crowd before the Regional Trials, with strong consistent scores all around, deserving the gold medal.
In the Level 2 NDP category, Bronze medal winner and new comer John-Paul wowed the audience with his determination, landing him impressive scores on floor, vault and PPP.  In silver medal position was Joel Milner, landing a huge 9.9 on vault, the highest score of the whole competition!  But the gold medal winner was Indi Watson, who was only 0.1 ahead of Joel, but showed strength on all apparatus.  Well done Indi.
In the Level 1 Elite category, Joseph Ward clenched the gold, with an impressive set of scores all around.  Luke Harrington came in second place, with a show stopping vault.  The bronze medal was picked up by Liam Jury, who had an unfortunate PPP, who would’ve otherwise gave Joseph and Luke tough competition for the top spot!
In the Level 1 NDP category was won by a proud Jacob Warren, with another new-comer Finlay Risby grabbing the silver medal with a huge 9.6 on vault.
Our Level A category boys had a tough competition, with 6 boys battling it out for the top spot.  Bailey Yates won the gold medal, achieving the highest all around score of the competition.  In silver medal position was Colbi Curtis, younger brother of Level 4 Elite winner, with the highest PPP score of his group and second to his brother int he whole competition.  The bronze medal was snapped up by Leo Hoggard, who went through strong and focussed, deserving his medal.  Kayden Kennedy finished up in 4th place, 0.1 marks behind Leo, with Tobi Watson in 5th and Eric Tevekeliesky in 6th.
Our Level B category we had 8 fantastic boys fight for the medals!  Harry Clarke came out on top, with a well deserved gold medal, showing dedication and focus throughout the whole competition.  The silver medal was awarded to newbe Dominic Hollis, who wowed judges with his strength and power, and the bronze medal going to another newbe Kian, who showed the judges and other gymnasts how style is supposed to be done!  Zak Watson came in 4th place with a massive vault, and close 5th by 0.1 was Finnegan Taylor.  Isaac Byfield came in 6th place with by far the coolest hair in the whole competition, with Sebastian coming in 7th and Benjamin coming in 8th position.
All the boys worked so hard leading up to this competition that everyone at Notts Gymnastics Academy are so proud of all of them, and wishes them a big congratulations.
Finally, we would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to all the parents, judges and coaches who helped make the competition a success, with contributions and help setting up and tidying away!  With an extra thank you to Liz Beddall and Theresa Newstead who helped organise the day.
A massive success, well done all.
