"The second year of the Sandra Clarke Cup was great, the number of entries doubled from last year and it was a great day for everybody. There were over 150 trophies and medals, presents and prizes for every gymnast and every coach. The audience were treated to live music entertainment, which got everybody singing and clapping. It served as a great start for the new season.
For the gymnasts it was a nice way to try out their new routines with just a little bit of pressure. For some it meant a little support from their coaches, or an extra soft mat just incase. So it provided that intermediate environment from training to competition, which no other competition does.
The parents did a fantastic job organising the stores, refreshments, the gym looks great, balloons, ribbons, and, of course a small glass of champagne was available for coaches, judges and organisers.

There is not another competition like it anywhere, Brilliant! Well done and thank you to everyone who competed."

Also during the day Nila Benfield, on behalf of British Gymnastics, made a special presentation to senior gymnast Niamh Rippin. After many years of world class competition she has decided to retire and received a bouquet of flowers.

Notts would also like to thank everyone who gave up their time on the day, for the raffle prizes, the donated cakes and sandwiches, the setting up and clearing away, the door crew, the girls on the music and scoring and all our pink clad runners. A special thanks to Rosina Palmer as Parents Committee chair who co-ordinated the event along with the coaches and all the parents that attended the organising meetings. Pete Aldridge who was a fantastic compere and entertainment by Mr. Kofi during the intervals were warmly received. Jemma did a fantastic job keeping us all organised as well as coaching!
Thanks also goes to all the gymnasts that took part in the competition and their coaches from Dynamo, Worksop, Dukeries, Rugby & Hinckley.

Special thanks also goes to the judges: Martyn Malborn (Dukeries), David Pavier (Notts), Shannon Bolton (Sleaford), Debbie Richardson (Dynamo), Amber Moore (Notts), Patsy Shields (Sleaford), Jo Bannermann (Notts), Jo Wan (Rugby), Caroline Pavier (Notts), Olivia Curran (Notts), Nila Benfield (British Gymnastics), Charlie Shields (Sleaford).

Round-1

Round 1
Level 4 In Age By Jemma Wilson
The first round of the Sandra Clarke cup saw D1 girls Isla, Ramiyah and Isabella and A1 girls Lily and India compete in age level 4. They all started on vault strong with Isla and Ramiyah competing fab yurchenkos (Isla won gold on this). Bars was next with Ramiyah and Isla performing their giants, Isabella and Lily had clean routines and although India fell she completed her routine (Ramiyah won the gold). Beam saw some shakey routines with falls from the girls, but new skills were performed elegantly regardless. Isabella held her nerve to produce the only stuck routine and won gold on this piece. The girls finished strongly on floor with fab tumbles by all, although Lily suffered a couple of falls she still performed well (Isla won gold).

Round 1

Level 4: Round one saw Molly Palmer, Elyse Hallam, Steffi Mitchell and Chantae Wilson competing in the level 4 competition.

Starting on bars, Molly produced a tidy routine making just one mistake on her handstand but it was still good enough for silver medal as she was beaten by teammate Steffi who took the gold, it was a really successful piece to start on with the other two Notts competitors Elyse in 3rd and Chantae in 4th.

Moving to beam, good solid tidy routines from all 4 gymnasts but falls for Molly (flic to 2) and Elyse (spin) meant that Steffi was leading after the first two apparatus, Steffi took gold and Molly bronze.

Floor and no problems, Elyse the only faller, surprising herself with the power in her 1/2 twist she over rotated and could not remain on her feet. Molly taking the gold medal and Steffi silver, with Chantae just missing out with another 4th place.

Rest then the final apparatus - vault, Molly was still trailing Steffi and needed to land her tsuk without a fall, this she did to take the vault title and the overall title, Steffi coming 2nd overall, Chantae in her first competition (meet) for the club in a very creditable 5th with Elyse in 11th.

An excellent start to the day.

Round 2 saw Katie Liwoshko competing at challenge level, Hannah Piechota and Carrie Brown at level 2 and Shenea Fawzi-Perrin at level 3.

Katie started on beam, competing flic layout for the first time she wasn't able to stay on and another fall left her with a score of 10.967. No major problems on bars for Shenea, Hannah and Carrie, with Carrie taking gold and Hannah silver, Shenea took silver in the level 3 comp.

Rotation 2 saw Katie move to floor and the others to beam, this was the first time Katie had competed a double back in competition and she competed it with no problem to take the floor title, on beam two falls from Carrie meant that she could only manage the bronze medal, Hannah with just the one fall taking another silver. Shenea with two falls missed out on the medals.

Katie moved to vault and Carrie, Shenea & Hannah to floor. No problems with the tsuk from Katie saw her just beaten by the smallest margin (0.05) into silver, Carrie and Hannah competed their floors without any major errors, Carrie taking gold and Hannah silver. Shenea was competing her new floor for the first time and a solid performance gave her the silver medal.

Final apparatus, Katie bars, the other vault. Katie managed to execute the shoot 1/2 without falling in competition for the first time but was unable to catch the Mo, another fall left her slightly disappointed despite making the shoot 1/2. Hannah and Carrie both did exceptionally well producing good tusks, Carrie for the first time in competition, Carrie impressing the judges more than Hannah to take gold, Shenea produced a good solid vault to finish the on petition 4th overall. Carrie took the level 2 overall title with Hannah making it a clean sweep of 5 silver medals. Katie claimed the silver overall in the challenge competition. Overall a good day and an excellent warm up for the open age region competitions in the next few weeks.

Well done to everyone.

Level 5 in age by Laura Piedalu-Wilson
The Sandra Clarke cup is a brilliant event. It gave all the gymnasts a chance to practice their routines before regional level 5 the following week.
The competition started on vault. All girls have improved immensely on this piece. Well done. Alyssa (1), Alice (2), Georgie (5), Honey (6)
Next up was bars. Well done to Honey for performing her squat on after struggling with this skill during training. Another well deserved well done to Alyssa for performing both her upstarts and earning a higher start value. Alice performed a solid routine and will no doubt improve her technique further in time for next week's competition.
Unfortunately Georgie struggled  with her squat on, a skill she usually performs with ease! Alyssa(1), Alice(2), Honey (3), Georgie (4)
Performing beam at this competition highlighted which skills needed to be worked on. All girls suffered a fall on their backward walkover except for Honey. Well done Honey. The girls decided to overcome their disappointment on beam to move onto a successful floor. Alyssa(2), Honey (4), Georgie (5), Alice (6)
Georgie, Alice, Alyssa and Honey showed how well they have mastered their choreography on floor. They stretched beautifully and tumble with power. A lovely way to end the competition! Alyssa (1), Georgie (2), Alice (3), Honey (4)
Overall AA:
1. Alyssa Hawkins
2. Georgiana Lewis
3. Honey Harris
4. Alice Marriott
Good luck at regionals girls!

round-2

Round 2
Level 3 In Age by Jemma Wilson
The second round saw D1 girls Paige, Bella, Caitlin and Scarlett perform in age level 3. All girls had lots of new moves and difficulty throughout the competition including Bella returning from a broken ankle only 6 months ago. Starting strongly on vault they all competed a yurchenko, Caitlin had an unfortunate trip during run up and although scored 0.0 as only allowed one vault she performed a 2nd one beautifully to show the crowd (Bella won gold). All girls had clean bar routines with Caitlin winning gold. Beam showed some high difficultly with Bella and Caitlin sticking their routines, Paige ad Scarlett had one fall each (Caitlin won gold). All girls performed dynamic floors with fab tumbles (Scarlett won gold). Overall Paige won gold, Bella silver and Scarlett bronze.
Well done girls, fab warm up for regionals next week.

Level 2 In Age: Alissia Barlow, Laura Kaletha
Espoir: Megan Parker, Georgia Wallace
Junior: Ellie Downie
Challenge: Sadia Wilson, Katie Liwoshko
Senior: Jess Coombs, Katy Bramley
We were pleased with the performances overall with lots of new skills performed by all the gymnasts leading up to their main events in November and December. Alissia and Laura had confident performances, both producing impressive floor routines with Laura nailing her double back. After a lengthy break due to injury, Georgia returned to competition with watered down routines only having been back to full fitness since July. Megan had a nervy start on beam but completed all other pieces with flair, especially her tkachev on bars. New to Notts from Bermuda, Sadia came into the competition having only arrived in the country a week before, an exciting new gymnast for Notts. Sadia, (Challenge Espoir) competed against Katie Liwoshko (Challenge Junior) claimed 1st on vault, beam and bars. Ellie only competed vault and beam as she was the only Junior elite in the competition. The seniors battled it out between them showing powerful vaults, Jess taking the gold on vault and beam and Katy gold on bars and floor, with Katy claiming 1st place overall.
Good luck to all competing in the East Midlands regionals.
