R1 girls compete at Notts county champs

Categories // Gymnastics For All

On Sunday 11 members of GFA’s R1 group competed in the Notts County Championships, in three different levels.

Alice Oldershaw, OA Level 3, started the day well for R1. Taking the Bronze medal on beam with a super clean routine and 5th place on. Alice also competed her full twist in her floor routine for the first time.

Tanith Beresford, Lucy Willis and Jessie Mitchell, OA Level 4, competed in the second session of the day.  Lucy performed a fantastic routine on beam, sticking her back walkover and her tuck back dismount to gain a 5thplace finish. Jessie competed strongly in all her pieces with a 5th place on vault and 8th place on bars. Tanith, like the other girls, performed well on all her pieces. She competed her ‘Mo’ flighted catch on bars for the first time. Tanith took Gold on Vault with a really powerful ½ on ½ off and came 5th on floor with a brand new routine.

Rounding off the day were our OA Level 5’s. Charlotte Simpson, Olivia Gladstone, Jemima O’Neill, Darcey Cox, Honey Farnsworth, Kara Plaats and Molly Nicholls. For several of these girls this was their first time competing at this level of competition. All the girls gave strong performances on their pieces. Olivia and Honey competed their newly learnt Flik Tuck Backs on floor. Charlotte had a fantastic day taking Gold on floor and Silver on vault. Kara, Honey and Darcey took the joint Bronze medal on floor. Molly was the 3rd highest placing gymnast on bars with Kara close behind in 4th. Jemima placed 6th on floor with a beautifully performed routine. Olivia also placed 6th on floor in her age group and 6th on vault.

What a fantastic day for R1 at competition. Well done girls.
