Notts boys take 19 regional titles at East Midlands Championships

On sunday 30th april, over 20 boys from within the boys squad travelled to leicester for the east midlands championships. In what was a hugely successful competition for the boys, they claimed a total of 19 regional titles as well as many other medals!

The first session of the day saw our under 10's and under 11's compete. In the u10 age group, we had 4 boys that all put in good composed performances. Alfie bull came in 17th place, james norman came 16th, oscar sampson came 13th and lucas booth-clibborn came 20th place. A big well done to all the boys on their performances.

The u11's started their competition on sunday morning and showed some good routines to achieve some respectable results. Charlie gardner competed on 4 pieces of apparatus due to an injury and managed 24th place. Kaydon kennedy achieved a very good 9th place overall and his highlight of the competition was a 3rd place finish on pommel, louis o'keefe showed big improvements to finish in 12th place. Jack reyes had a good clean comp to finish in 13th place. Ethan norris had a consistent competition and managed 20th place. Last of all, kian keogh had a fine competition to finish 2nd overall, just 0.2 off overall gold, he also managed a 3rd on pommels and p bars. Big improvements from the boys in mature performances.

We had 2 gymnasts in the u8 age group and they stole the show completely! phoenix frost had a fantastic competition and managed to come away with 6 out of 7 gold medals! he won the gold in the overall, pommel, rings, vault, p bars and high bar, and also got 2nd on floor! well done phoenix on a fantastic performance. Jude irons also competed and in what was his first competition for notts, he performed exceptionally well! he managed 2nd overall, and also 2nd on p bars and high bar, 3rd on rings and vault and he got a well deserved gold meal on the floor! well done to both boys on amazing competitions.

In the under 9 age group, we had 9 boys competing in a very competitive age group. Zakaine fawzi-mccaffrey came 6th overall, and managed a fantastic 3rd on rings. Alfie heard put on a composed performance to finish 8th overall. Noah farnsworth had a superb day and came away with 3rd in the overall competition! as well as that he managed 2 excellent golds on floor and rings and also a 3rd place finish on high bar! well done noah! callum haywood had a great competition and managed a 11th place overall finish. Marty jackson had a good clean competition to finish 5th overall and also took the gold medals on his best apparatus, the floor and vault. Lucas bowen put in a great competition to take 4th overall place, he also managed 3rd on pommel and 2nd on rings, with his highlight of the day being a gold medal performance on the parallel bars! elliott bishop did fantastic and managed a 15th place overall. Jack harrington also did great and came 18th overall,and the final gymnast of the day was william borrington who managed a great 22nd place overall. Well done to all the boys in a large and competitive age group!

U8 U9

In the first under 12 competition, which as the boys competing on all pieces and doing shiny high bar, we had 3 gymnasts competing. Harry clarke did a very consistent job to finish 5th overall and also managed to achieve 3rd on vault and high bar. Harry norman competed very well to achieve 4th overall! with a 3rd place finish on pommel being brilliant for him. Quentin peberdy had a fantastic competition and managed a 7th place overall! 

In the second under 12 competition, which was for gymnasts competing on the full fig chalk bar, we had alex yolshina-cash competing. He managed to have a very good competition and finish 2nd overall. He also won the silver medal on pommel and high bar and won a gold medal on vault! well done to alex on a great performance!

In the u14 competition we had two liam's! jury and parkes competing. Liam parkes was in one of his first 6 piece competitions and he managed a very respectable 12th place overall. Liam jury had a superb competition and managed to win the gold medal in the overall and also floor, pommel, vault, p bars and high bar, with his only non gold coming on rings! well done to both liam's on great performances! 

We had two gymnasts in the u16 age group. Unfortunately oliver kettleborough aggravated a small injury so only managed 1 piece of apparatus, and finished 9th overall. Sam plant had a good competition and finished in 5th overall, also winning the silver medal on parallel bars and the gold medal on floor!!! 

In the over 16 age group, we had daniel bailey competing! daniel had a great competition and managed to come 5th overall! he also won two medals with 3rd places finishes on both floor and vault!
